Climbing the Walls™: An Activity and Resource Guide for Traverse Wall Facilitators  

We have seen that every child has a feeling of success when they achieve goals and participate in fun learning activities while rock climbing. Because Traverse® Wall climbing is an innovative activity that captivates all learners and builds physical, cognitive, and social/emotional skills, we believe that you can maximize the benefits of your wall by engaging children in curriculum activities.  

In order to help our customers help their students/users discover personal successes we have developed Climbing the Walls, a program that provides everything necessary to develop a safer and educationally-rewarding climbing wall program. Designed for use with children and youth in grades K through 8, Climbing the Walls includes 47 detailed lesson plans, safety information, and many other valuable resources. 

Climbing the Walls is divided into six sections:

• Introduction: Important information to know and share with students, including safety tests
• Introductory Activities: Activities to introduce students to the climbing wall
• Core Activities: Exciting and fun activities that focus on climbing skills
• Cross-Curricular Activities: Creative activities that combine climbing and other disciplines, like reading, writing, and math
• Challenge Activities: Activities for the end of the unit or for experienced students
•Appendix: Valuable resources to support and enhance the program
